Cindy and I live in a rural, agricultural setting and one of our community goals is to continue to try to be excellent neighbors to farmers and ranchers. One of the benefits of the R-2 zoning that we’ve applied for with The Ridge is that is allows for community bylaws that emphasize protections for farmers and ranchers. As a result, we’ve included these community bylaws with our application. We expect that anyone moving into the community would understand the need for the regulations, but these are more than guidelines. With subdivision approval, these actually become bylaws, enforceable like any other provincial bylaw.
Among the bylaws that will protect the rural community:
- No activities with ATVS, quads, or motorbikes within a 10 km radius of The Ridge, unless with written permission of landowner.
- Unless accompanied by owner or guests, dogs must be equipped with an electronic collar and stay on owner’s property.
- No hunting within a 10 km radius of the Ridge, unless written permission has been granted by the land owner.
- Owners may not make any site disturbances beyond property line that disturbs natural vegetation and soil. Eg: tree trimming, cultivating, digging.
- Ranchers have right of way to move cattle on the roads at any time.
